The first Fair held in Cerro Gordo County was in 1858. It is managed by the North Iowa Fair Association, a non-profit organization, which looks upon the facilities at Highway 18 West and Eisenhower as a recreational complex for North Iowa, as an attraction for tourists to our area, and as home of the North Iowa Fair. The North Iowa Fair Association has been incorporated since 1950. The Fair moved to its present location in 1956. It is a Regional Fair, including the Cerro Gordo County 4-H Show and Open Class Competition. Wheel events and music shows are featured in the grandstand. Professional "free" entertainment is offered as well as are strolling acts. Local entertainment and contests are held throughout the Fair. A carnival and indoor and outdoor commercial exhibits are featured as well as a wide variety of food choices. The annual Fair attracts approximately 50,000 visitors over its five day run featuring competition, entertainment, education, and recreation. In addition to being the home of the North Iowa Fair, the facility at Highway 18 West and Eisenhower hosts several annual events through the year, and is also the "home" site for several annual events |
